Overview
Once a Subscription Plan Group is live, you can update its checkout and ongoing discounts directly from the Submarine UI. This includes changing an already existing discount amount, adding a new discount, or removing one.
Discount changes apply to new subscriptions created from that point onwards. Existing subscriptions keep the discount they were created with, so customers who are already subscribed won't see a change to their pricing.
Edit discounts on a Subscription Plan Group
To edit discounts on an existing subscription group, follow the steps below.
- Open Submarine and navigate to the Subscription Groups page, then click the group you'd like to update.
- Click Edit discounts. The form shows the groups current discount settings.
- Change, add or remove the checkout and ongoing discounts as needed.
- Click Save. A confirmation window will appear explaining that the change only applies to new subscriptions. Review it and confirm to save your changes.
Your new discount configuration is now live for any new subscriptions created in this group.
How discount changes apply to existing subscriptions
Existing subscriptions keep their original discount by default. There are two ways an existing subscription can move to the new discount configuration:
- Changing subscription plans: if a subscription moves to a different plan within the group, for example from weekly to fortnightly, it will pick up the group's current discounts.
- Updating all existing subscriptions: if you'd like every existing subscription in the group updated to the new discounts, reach out to us at help@getsubmarine.com with the group you've changed and we'll take care of it.
