If a campaign order payment fails, the customer is given a limited time, defined by the campaign’s grace period, to resolve payment before the order is cancelled. For example, if the grace period is set to 3 days, the customer has three days from the initial payment capture attempt to correct the payment.
How to view the failed payment
- Open the campaign order
- Scroll to the timeline at the bottom of the page to view the reason for the payment failure
- Depending on the cause, you can:
- Retry payment manually inside Shopify
- Ask the customer to update their payment method
- Cancel the order
Testing the failed payment flow
To test a failed payment, complete checkout using a successful test card first, then replace the payment method with one that will fail using the details below.
- Place an order at checkout using a regular test card that succeeds
- After the presale order has created, open the customer’s account in Shopify and go to Payment methods
- Select the card used for checkout, click Replace card, and enter the failing card details found below
